One Island Drive · Brickell Key

An island apart, a city within reach.

Forty-four acres encircled by Biscayne Bay and joined to Brickell by a bridge. Here, you cross water to come home.

The Bridge

Five Minutes from Brickell

Brickell Key is joined to the mainland by a bridge. On the far side is the financial heart of Brickell, about five minutes away. The official phrase for the arrangement is the best of both worlds, and it is meant literally.

What the bridge changes is the sound. The city stays in view, close enough to read its lights, and yet the island keeps the hush of water on every side.

The Island

Forty-Four Acres in the Bay

A word on the address,

Brickell Key is an island of forty-four acres in Biscayne Bay, shaped over four decades by one hand, Swire Properties. It is the only private island address in the urban heart of Miami. Everything else in the city shares a sidewalk with it; here, one crosses water to come home.

A baywalk runs the whole perimeter, green and open to the water. One Island Drive stands at its edge, on the last parcel the island had left to give.

An address like this is made once. We say it without urgency, only as a fact of geography.

Yours, from the island, The House at One Island Drive

The Green

Gardens Down to the Water

The landscape of the house is by Shma, of Bangkok, and it is planted as a tropical garden more than a lawn: palms, deep shade, and clearings that open suddenly onto the bay. One of them is kept as a forest yoga lawn.

From the gardens the baywalk carries on around the island, so that a morning walk can begin at your own door and end there, with water beside you the whole way.
